If you come to a door or some sort of barrier that you need propped open, you can use a crowbar for its literal purpose and get back to using it as a weapon afterward. You’ll also never run out of gas like you would with a car and can easily carry your transportation around, unlike with a bicycle.

Any bladed weapon could help pick through a wooded area, but a machete is designed to chop through trees. Both ends provide different uses for killing zombies, whether you need to bludgeon or slice straight into their heads.

On top of that, you’re setting zombies aflame as they march toward you, meaning you’re forcing more danger on yourself.

Sure, it seems like a good way to mow through a crowd, but one wrong step and the blade is being pushed onto you instead. Read more: ‘Stranger Things’ star thinks season 4’s 2021 release will be “pushed back” Gun Everyone likes to think a gun is the best thing to have in a survival situation, but it would actually be pretty ineffective in a zombie apocalypse.

Aiming, knowing how to clean and care for it, the actual mechanics of using the gun and more would all make it a useless tool for a vast majority of people. You don't need to get up close and personal with a gaggle of hungry remnants if you can help it, and the rifle will ensure that you can keep your distance while picking them off efficiently.

On screen, a silencer turns a deafening gunshot into a nothing more than a gentle fart. It's still loud, and you'll still put some hangry zombies on your trail with each pull of the trigger.

If you were able to get a good vantage point, you could pick off as many as possible while at a safe distance. I've been looking at a few... T10 Great Wave by Hanna $634 retail $960 http://www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=PC5004 It's a beautiful T10 and decided on getting it a few years ago but wondered if a cheaper 9260 would be better.

Scottish basket hilt, dirk & spiked large. A Katina is designed as a two handed; and, without a good deal of practice, it is uncommon for one to be comfortable single-handing one.

Frankly, I think if most unpracticed people were honest about it, the KO Katina would be a far more popular option. As for the question at hand, I would personally prefer a through hardened blade in that scenario.

Personally, I prefer Euro style swords...but not necessarily for battle applications. For use against zombies, though, I suppose one wouldn't have to be as concerned about edge alignment in a strike.

S7 Curia by Longship Armory designed by John Under $2000 http://sbg-sword-store.sword-buyers-guide.com/longship-armoury-furia-sword-moreinfo.html# This is supposed to be the ultimate zombie apocalypse sword. If you aren't looking for bragging rights, you can get a great looking, functional sword for a lot less money.

If SHF (and I ran out of ammo) I could make due w my On Temp sky Bowie and my riot shield. If you have any martial/ weapons training a long knife is a good option also.

Personally, I'd rather look at, and practice with, a Zombie Tools Mack Daddy-O; but, if it actually came to battle, I wouldn't be reaching for that (because I'm not as comfortable with that as I am other weapons). I'd love to be able to say I have flashy sword skills to beat the band, but in all honesty I'd probably be better off with the equivalent of a big meat cleaver, like the Chinese Ring Sword, or a Day.

I own a rapier, and am “ok” with it, but let's face it, zeds aren't going to grab the point of entry and concede a duel to me. Bananas are lovely, but also not going to have the “mph” needed to “clear a swath” in front of you like a heavier weapon.

Heck, just sign me up for a Malinowski Chopper, that'd work as well as anything. The likeliness of a sword to break depends on how hard the user is trying, lol.

If you're talking about the Buses it's in SR-101 which holds a better edge than S7 and even INFO from what I've read. Two years actually and that does not mean it can get weaker before then That's what I mean: you mentioned rotting flesh and bone in the same instance.

Zombies don't follow natural rules and can have flesh on them far longer then they should since it should fall off in a few months but does not By the same logic any game around will be someone's lunch within a week, there is a reason hunting is not an industry. Hunting actually quite hard to do most people can't do it True, though it's not something you can half-ass, particularly with the tight tolerances on certain modern crossbows.

But somehow you think in the world of hungry humans you will be the one to get all the game, there is a reason why pre-agriculture societies were largely nomadic. Actually I grew up on the border between city and village, suburbs if you will, but with less picket fence and more manure, I know how to grow things, but it takes some time, and if it's past season you are out of luck. Slingshots also tend to require the usage of metal balls to be deadly as these are they are only materials that can yield dense, small projectiles that could still potentially fracture or break bones (But would rely greatly on velocity for their destructive power).

If you run out of steel ball bearings or lead, It will be hard to source good ammunition excepting perhaps metal bolts or screws et cetera which might have differing flight patterns and aerodynamic deficiencies compared to ball bearings et cetera which might lead to a decrease in accuracy. These projectiles might even assume L-shaped or diagonal flight paths after twenty or thirty meters depending on how angular these ammunition types are, and depending on velocity angular projectiles might whistle whilst in flight, which may or may not be a detractor, depending on circumstances. It might also be hard to source good rubber in a post apocalyptic environment as the type of flexible rubber that you want is not likely going to be common, supposing that you need to repair or replace your slingshot.

If you can not have found any rubber or flexible synthetic material at all, you cannot make any type of slingshot at all. Wrist-braced slingshots with a stock of some kind should also be considered, though this may make them more clumsy and impractical to carry, such as from a belt et cetera.

Hopefully something like in this video would be good for this purpose, supposing that you use a prod with a greater draw weight, something approaching 100+ pounds. Here's a video from The Slingshot Channel showing marbles against ballistics gelatin. If you need to replace a strap, you can use the inner tube from a bike tire.

I've seen most Slingshot channel's videos, so I know what marbles can do to ballistics gelatin. My main concern when writing above was: What projectile is the most likely to enter into the brain through the skull, or failing this, cause fractures to bones such as the shoulder blade or arm. For this I want a projectile that has the greater amount of mass for the smallest surface area, and a marble or a rock or a clay ball that can be shot from a slingshot is likely not going to give me the penetrative power that I want.

I want ammunition that could potentially kill a zombie at a given range of ~twenty-forty meters by penetration through the skull. This is why I didn't mention marbles or clay pellets as ammunition, largely because I am concerned about these projectiles performing well enough to penetrate through the skull or have the ability to fracture bones.

While marbles potentially could fracture a bone (Depending on velocity, mass and such), I am primarily concerned about ammunition that can kill on a single hit to the head. Frankly, though, I wouldn't want to be relying on a slingshot against zombies in any case, more like raccoons, rabbits and squirrels. Welcome to the wonderful word of stupid perpetual energy machines/QUOTE]A friend of mine always jokes that he'd capture a dozen or so “live” zombies, and yoke them to the front of an old Cadillac, with a live chicken dangling from a pole in front of them, and that'd be how he gets around the wasteland.

The military is bad, but on leave I actually paid attention, and I'm genuinely impressed that civilization hasn't already collapsed, I can only assume it's because for every 999 useless idiots there's like 1 highly competent person keeping it all together in the background.

So I could easily see the entire population of a country going full retard and collapsing civilization even though the zombies would have never been even slightly an existential crisis if they just got their shit together. Topping it off, they generally don't realize what skills they're good at as opposed to where they're complete morons. What that boils down to is that nobody should be expecting people to come up with an effective response to a massively disruptive situation, unless that's their actual job or something they study as a hobby.

More or less, if there are actual zombies running around a lot of people will panic and get themselves killed in stupid ways and/or eaten. More or less, if there are actual zombies running around a lot of people will panic and get themselves killed in stupid ways and/or eaten. An actual zombie apocalypse as opposed to an eventually contained local outbreak would require gross incompetence from pretty much everyone capable to act. That said, a localized outbreak is definitely plausible should one overlook ignoring the biological and physical impossibilities.

Zombies work better as a side effect or opportunistic add on to another apocalypse, rather than the prime mover themselves. The simplest being a global pandemic with a high infection and mortality rate and a long incubation period, only when people die they get “razzed” as a shambles by some sort of cord fungus or something.
