Skip melting the butter in a saucepan unless you really want to clean another thing today. Use a microwave safe bowl to make this recipe in (it's small; a cereal bowl will do in place of your stainless steel mixing bowl, I promise), and just melt the butter in the microwave.
The subtle nutty flavor imparted by brown butter will be buried under chocolate and vanilla anyway. Hack it off the frigid block you pulled from the back of the fridge and melt away.

12/13/2006 I used ginger crystallized dark chocolate (65%) which I chopped. Dough seems very dry at first just see stirring no added liquid is necessary.
02/05/2015 I was really surprised by these cookies: by the ingredients by the method by the texture of the batter and by the result. I had an egg white to use up and that's how I stumbled across this recipe.
I found the batter to be rather liquid which contradicts another review on here. Dropped by 2 teaspoons yielded 11 cookies.
My only change was to use bittersweet chocolate shavings since I didn't have unsweetened. Nice small portions and as someone mentioned the cookies feel light, so it's easy to eat half the batch.

Every packet bought carries a colored rosette and allows you to vote (again by text or internet) as to which of the six flavors is preferred. I expect many political diehards will watch Walker's Crisp Democracy with cynicism at another marketing exercise.
