The menu was small but well put together, and the food was better than anything I have had in any other D.C. restaurant. Our waiter made us feel like dignitaries, he was so attentive without being overwhelming.

We truly appreciate you dining with us at King bird, and we are delighted to see that we won you over with the details, from our decor to our delicious cuisine and first-class service. We cannot overstate our gratitude for recommending us to others and for spreading the word about our Cognac menu.

We recently dined at King bird prior to a performance at the Kennedy Center. I asked our server Jaime for her favorite dishes and I followed her recommendations, and I am so glad I did.

We are delighted to read that you found your Preheater dinner to be perfectly orchestrated by Jaime and her colleagues and on behalf of all of us, we thank you for taking the time to share your accolades. We trust that you noted other interesting dishes on the seasonal fall menu, and we invite you to join us again one day soon so that you may continue your explorations.

On behalf of all of us, the pleasure was ours, and we look forward to welcoming you and yours back in the weeks ahead. While staying at The Watergate hotel, we didn’t sit down and eat at the King bird, due to time commitments.

We did order bagels from the hostess stand, two days in a row, and brought them to our room. Both days the waitress and hostess were very nice and accommodating.

Breakfast is our favorite meal of the day and whether it’s served in King bird, through in-room dining, or our “Break in Breakfast” served from the patio chalet, we are thrilled to read that you think we do it just right. We appreciate the accolades, and we are delighted to find that your experience was so enjoyed.

We look forward to you exploring more options from the menu in the weeks ahead, and we invite you to be in touch if we can assist in planning your return. Claim your listing for free to respond to reviews, update your profile and much more.

I’m definitely frequenting King bird, it’s the perfect Journey for food, cocktails and ambiance. The food was delicious and beautifully presented.

Prefix, preheater menu had everything I would have chosen à la carte. The staff was top-notch- knowledgeable and attentive.

We had to wait 10 minutes for our drinks, and then we had to ask a second server. It was not quiet but that is expected in a hotel restaurant.

We were going to an event at the Kennedy Center; the staff asked what time our show was and handled drinks, appetizers and dinner so that we had adequate time without being rushed. We celebrated my birthday at King bird and were thrilled with everything.

The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. My food was very small portion, it was cold and the sauce was very sweet (over the top) and the meat Filet Moon didn’t have salt or any flavor.

The two small vegetables that the dish had was row. There were other things that happened, but I won’t get long here.

However, the manager was very attentive with my complaints, and she apologized for the inconvenient several times, and even gave her business card in case we want to come back she would take special care of us. But overall it does not worth your time, energy and specially your money since the food is incredible expensive and incredible small and microwaved.

My server Shelley was attentive and intuitively addressed my dining needs. Each member of the staff I interacted with was courteous and ensured my dining experience was memorable.

King bird is definitely a DC dining gem. Despite having a reservation, we were sat at the table right near the high-traffic kitchen.

Once seated, we waited a good while until we were acknowledged by a server. We then requested to move and waited again for anyone to take drink orders.

Save your money in forego indulging your curiosity about this “establishment” and go to one of the many, much more modern and imaginative restaurants that know how to serve great food and offer stellar service. Our server was perfectly attentive, giving us space to enjoy our food and time together, but always ensuring that we had everything we needed right when we needed it.

The food was outstanding, though the lamb was a tad bit dry which was made up for by the provided mustard that made it a sublime combination. Highly suggest the tuna carpaccio, salmon, and the chocolate torte.

Ambiance was especially pleasing with the added view of the Potomac and Art Deco inspired decorations. More servings of food for the price would make it more worthwhile.

I was pretty impressed for overall and our anniversary dinner was a success! His lamb and my branding were a bit overcooked.

The ratatouille and spaghetti squash had enjoyable flavors. Moreover, kudos to the staff for handling my husband's forgotten credit card.

Enjoyed a delicious brunch at King bird before a Kennedy Center matinée. Our first time here and the decor, service and food were 5 stars.

Very slow service, especially for lunchtime. Had to wait a long time for check and then had to go find the server to actually run my card.

They were focused on their preheater special crowd, so the servers really didn't pay any attention to people who were there to enjoy a normal meal (which is odd as the preheater is likely a special of some kind). The food was mediocre and a bad value given the price.

The staff seated us in a booth that had seats at different heights, so some people had the table at a normal height while for others it was too high. The waiter ignored me when I signaled to him, so I had to get bread plates from another table.

Two members of the party had duck, which required a sharp knife, ; again, we had to get the attention of the waiter/busboy and request different knives. At the end of the meal, the waiter asked one person whether he wanted coffee or an after dinner drink, then left.

BUT I called several days ahead of time and asked if they had vegan options (one couple coming with us is vegan), they said yes we do! When we asked for their vegan options today, they said they didn’t have any.

Leaving was not an option as we were catching a show at the Kennedy center after. They told us they could figure something out... they brought a “veggie” plate (mostly decorated carrots) and an arugula salad (arugula and salt).

They charged $8.00 for each bowl of arugula and $24.00 for each veggie plate. The couple also had to ask that they don’t add butter to the veggies and the waiter seemed confused. Upsets me that they say yes and then don’t actually have options.

Upsets me that in 2020, an upscale restaurant wouldn’t have a vegan option. Upsets me that the carrots costed that much and the salad was terribly put together.

A special treat dinner for before a Kennedy Center show. Jamie, our server, was spot on with her recommendations and the food was delicious.

Slow to take order, slow to refill water glasses, low to refill wine glasses, and slow to deliver main course. Practically had to trip a waiter who was not ours to get some service.

Waitress offered no apologies, seemed to be not focusing on service. Preheater meal was good, if it took a very long time to prepare.
